Behind the scenes at Vancouver Fashion Week FW 2016

LASALLE COLLEGE VANCOUVER STUDENTS PRESENT AT FASHION WEEK
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE SARAH MCLACHLAN SCHOOL OF MUSIC

For the 13th consecutive season, LaSalle College Vancouver (LCV) will be presenting 5 student collections on the runway of Vancouver Fashion Week. This season, the collections where inspired by rhythm, hence each collection being accompanied down the runway with music performed by students of the Sarah McLachlan School of Music (SOM). The show will take place at the Chinese Cultural Center opening the Emerging Designers Night on March 16th at 5 p.m.

Rhythm is the feeling of organized movement. A cohesive collection is achieved when the lines, shapes, colours, textures or patterns in clothing are arranged to lead the viewer’s eye easily from one part of the garment to another. As in music, there needs to be harmony, unity, balance and a sense of continuity.

“This season, we are very excited to partner with SOM. Our student designers have been paired with a musician who will be performing a musical piece to accompany their garments down the runway along with live vocal performance by Sophie Elder-Labrie, also a student at SOM. This has been a great experience for our student designers as well as an enriching opportunity for the students of the Sarah McLachlan School of Music whom for the most part have never performed at a fashion event.’’ says Diego Do Livramento, Director of LaSalle College Vancouver.

“Our students are very excited to participate in this year’s Fashion Week. Having the chance to collaborate and create music for the designers at LaSalle College Vancouver is such a great opportunity, and one, they will definitely remember.” mentions Sarah McLachlan.

Once again this year, acclaimed Vancouver fashion stylist Tracey Pincott is serving as Artistic Director, working closely with the student designers. Lizbell Agency models will help the students showcase their designs on the catwalk. Furthermore, LCV has also collaborated with Nimbus who has incorporated the mixing of the music for the show in their engineering class as well as help guide the students of SOM throughout the entire process.
